Hotel Morito |
Yes, it started slowly for reasonable accuracy a year ago when I was in talks with the nightclub Bananas here in Cala Millor. A contract of employment was not far away but not sure in my case I chose to refuse for fear of destroying myself with regular partying every night at work in an unbeatable pace. When I put the tip and objectives against the Norwegian AirForce again in November last year, there was not much to indicate that I should live in Majorca the upcoming summer. But after the failed attempt to become a military leader once again, it was finally Mallorca and Hotel Morito.
After thrilling to have waited several months, I could finally move into my cozy apartment for a Manhattan Cocktail Bar in Cala Millor, in early April. Expectations were high when I was handed a uniform and loop just days before the hotel opened. Unaware I was not awered of that the responsible for the recognition of my work did not intend to finish the job initially, but after a month of waiting I could finally enter into nice clothes and serving my first beer as a waiter at Hotel Morito. I will not be the last to admit that going from a management position in Norway to far down the social ladder in Spain is not the lightest in the world. Especially not when everything should be in a language you did notexam in because of a hospital stay you can not even remember much of. In other it was not easy to communicate with the other waiters when we were not allowed to use English. With some basic knowledge to the floor, I managed to still bearing me so into the Spanish course that communication quickly became a trifle.

Three wise mens: "Champagne, Corona and Hierbas |
It's not possible to stay in Mallorca without a party or 30. The highlight of this writing before the weekend Cala Rajada trip, say, clearly to be the visit from Frederic and Ola, in early June. Here in Cala Millor, we had it very pleasant and I would particularly point out when Ola disappeared and was rewarded with a flat hand from Frederic. Cala Millor was fun, but the trip to Cala Rajada was a big higher on the partylist. From here, I remember best the amazing story of how a lost mobile phone can be transformed into a possible murder. Read more on the post that was posted in early June.

Two families are becoming one. The gang at Playa2000 |
When you are taking your jogging shoes in your hand and hat on your head and leaving Norway in favor of the adventure of Majorca, it's not possible to avoid to make new friends. While you are busy with the daily filled of training and work, reaching always to attach new friendships. The gang at Playa2000 is a family that will have a very special place with me. When you're alone and no one you can call friends somewhere, it's good to have a family who takes such a good care of you and make you feel at home. Now that I immediately go home, I leave some of my best friends here on Mallorca and there will certainly be very difficult to say goodbye on Sunday.
I remember so well the good fantasy I had as a child. I think it is a common feature of all babies that make up their own perception of things around them. For example, I always thought that everyone in Denmark was gays. This was because I saw a movie as a kid where two Danish boys swapped spots in the mouth. This I saw as very strange when I already like two-year old had done the same with a girl. For this reason, everyone in Denmark where gays. On top of all this I saw later in childhood, my first porn movie that happened was unfortunate on the TV when I was babysitting with Nina. Toddlers who we were, we found this tremendous fun. The lucky ones who enjoyed themselves behind the TV-screen was in this case German, which meant that I saw for myself that everyone who lived in Germany has been or is part of the porn industry. Now, 15 years later, things have changed. I am absolutely certain that there are heterosexual in Denmark, but it evokes rather uncertainty about the Germans.

A normal day at work |
I remember so well the beautiful July day four years ago when we were seven excited Norwegians in the living room with my grandmother and grandfather and was going to Mallorca for the first time. Well, this was the eighth or ninth time for my grandmother and grandfather who had long wanted to show us in the Andafamily what Cala Millor had to offer. At the exception of father's dissatisfaction with the heat, which otherwise can be well understood, we fell head over heels and have visited the paradise every year thereafter. This summer was also no exception, and after months of waiting I finally got my mother, Stine and Henrik visited in July. There are few words that can describe the satisfaction we had but "fantastic" wil fit in nicely. What sort of falls into place when I have real tanning buddies, festive brother and love all around me all the time. I can sign that I will look back on this as the best year so far with the family down here. To read more about what we was doing currently, see the posts from early July. I will at the same time take advantage of the opportunity and thank my maternal grandfather that you took us on vacation that day four years ago. Had it not been for you, we had never experienced all the good that we have experienced and works abroad would never have been possible for me. So thank you and welcome you will be at a later date.
Those who know me best know that I am adventurous in nature. I like to make spontaneous choices and never look back when I've made a decision. The chance I took to travel to Mallorca to do work, I will never regret. I have learned so much and will look back on this as a process to grow as a person and overall life experience. For it is first and foremost what I want to live for. Get as many experiences as I can look back on and talk about afterwards. I would like to answer the question "what have you experienced in your life" with "everything". I've seen everything! On another question, namely, could you imagined to work in Majorca one more year, the answer is something else entirely. Yes, it is a wonderful place to be, yes you have few things that entice you to get home to your country and yes, it is in many cases heaven on earth. Yet there is always a "but." Should you work eight hours a day, six days a week, you would like to believe that the bank account was nothing but sunlight and wide smiles. This is not in Spain when the financial crisis has not found its way across the country, and unemployment is high. With just over 10,000 NOK paid in the month answer is not to struggle so much money. It is rather as I said before departure that it is the experience that is in the lead seal when I work down here. On the way, I got value for money but I will not do the same again. For the simple reason that it is not well paid. If I worked the equivalent in Norway, I had earned double of what I do here.

But for now, thanks to me and thank you for what you have been to experience this summer. It has left a deep impression in me that I have taken part in down here and it is with sadness I sit on the plane to Norway on Monday.
Mucha gracias, viva Espana, Espana la mejor!
